Growing up, I heard a lot of soul music playing in my house. It wasn’t until my teen years that I expanded my musical interest, listening to rock, pop, latin, and world music. I think it’s this openness to different genres that partially influences my stories, because I fit songs to various scenes. Sometimes instrumental works better when I’m seeking a place of intimacy for the characters though. Otherwise, a good rock song is my comfort zone to keep the pace flowing.
