Behind “Our Kind of Love” – Setting

I really like researching locations for my novels, but because I live in Rhode Island it’s always first choice when I’m in doubt of where to set my story. For my fifth novel, Our Kind of Love, I decided to base it entirely in the city of Newport, whereas Finding Julian took place in three different places within RI.

Newport is one of my favorites. It seems like a great destination no matter the season. For Our Kind of Love, I portrayed the city’s summer vibe and emphasized mostly on seaside escapes. Well, there’s plenty more that Newport has to offer aside from being the yachting capital of the United States. Here are some of the fun things you can do while visiting the historic city:

1. Visit museums, landmarks, and monuments

2. Go hiking, biking, or any other outdoor recreational activity

3. Check out the arts and entertainment (live music, theatre, etc.)

4. And of course, you can’t visit Newport in the summer without consuming the boat show.

I’m sure you’ll enjoy a lot more than the above when you visit Newport. I hope you do 🙂
